How to Enable Electric Vehicle Charging in Condominiums
Many consumers are considering EV purchases, but many have questions about how to charge at multi-unit dwellings or condominiums.

Recent consumer surveys show that about six in ten consumers need more information or education about electric car technology, model availability and how to charge, at home or on the road. This EV education is especially true for residents in townhomes and condominiums and people that live in U.S. cities.
Some utilities are entering the fray, such as Excel Energy in Colorado, which introduced a turnkey service to state regulators in 2020 that would allow the utility to offer installation and management of payments for a range of multi-unit dwellings.
A study from the University of California, Davis Institute of Transportation Studies shows 86% of electric vehicle owners rely primarily on home charging and 53% use home charging exclusively.
Currently, we also have adopters that have begun working with its homeowner association boards to add EV charging stations or plugs at their residences. Recently, a friend of Plugged In, Ryan Jarymy from Rocky Mountain Tesla (Youtube channel), documented some of his challenges in persuading owners and showed the actual solution with the help of Unico Power.
